Default Best Low Light Pocket Camera

I currently use a Nikon D3200 + Nikon 35mm f/1.8 for low light conditions, which works great for me.

However, sometimes I just want to carry a pocket camera. I am still using an old Canon SD870 IS, which is not so bad for day photography (still miles away from a DSLR) but in low light conditions (no flash) is almost useless.

Are there any decent low light pocket camera? Ideally around US$300.

Most Steve's Sample Photos in the reviews are in day light conditions and not night, so I would appreciate any feedback!

well, there's the canon SD4000IS. it's an elph, but it has full manual and an f/2.0 lens. i've been pretty pleased with it for low light, and it does well for daylight, too. or for just over $300, you can still get the panasonic LX5. also with an f/2.0 lens but a slightly bigger sensor. and i haven't tried this one, but the olympus XZ-1 has an f/1.8 at the wide end and is actually pretty fast even at the narrow end.

I'm Panasonic biased myself, so I like the LX5 with the multi-aspect sensor and dedicated switch, but the Olympus XZ-1 in the black version is only $199 at Amazon right now. That makes it a whole lot more interesting.

Thanks everybody for the recommendations.

I ended getting the Canon PowerShot S100, which has an f/2.0 lens and has a good low light performance according to some reviews.

I got the Black Friday deal on Amazon (US$229).

for the pocket, canon s95 or s100, very small and fits in the jean pocket without problems.
