Default looking to replace my old Powershot A610

Hello,
I am looking to replace my old Powershot A610.
On a recent trip overseas, I found its night shots terrible and its zoom capabilities are lacking.
With this new camera, I wish to get a good camera that will take good pics, work well at night, have decent zoom.
I donít know if this is impossible on a non-DSLR, but also get a camera that takes decent movies.
I have a budget of US$300 or roundabout.

What are your opinions please.

The Panasonic ZS50 (TZ70) is a good 30X travel zoom.

Now I am confused.
I had a look at the zoom of the old camera which I though was long and it was x 4 optical.
Perhaps I don’t need a large zoom after all.
Hell, x 10 would be a great improvement.

Based on this, would the advice differ?

There even is a83x zoom (Nikon P900). A cheaper camera is the Sony WX350 or
better the Nikon P9900.
Good but only 5x zoom, is the Canon Powershot S110.
