Default Looking for budget pocket camera

Hi,

I'm looking for a camera I can carry in my pocket to take vacation snapshot-type photos, family photos.

My budget is $200. I could go higher but really don't want to. I previously had a Sony (CyberShot? I'm not sure . . . ). It was 5 MP, if that helps. I purchased it 15 years ago or so and it always did the trick so I'd like to stick with the brand although I'm not 100% against exploring other brands.

90% of the time it'll be in my pocket or pack. I'll pull it out and shoot using the auto setting. I do play around with the settings some, but it's not at the top of my list.

Image quality is my first priority, durability / longevity second.

I'm not hard on electronics so I'm not looking at lifeproof cameras, although they're not out of the question.

I imagine it'll be hard to find a camera without a zoom and I'd definitely use it, so the zoom would be a factor but probably not a deciding one.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Mike

P.S. I'm open to refurbished from a reputable source.

I know you said you'd prefer Sony, however, take a look at a Panasonic ZS40.

Thanks! That's one I was eyeing. The website named after a river has refurbs available. I haven't checked out the vendor yet, but I will.

Looking at pictures online, mine might have been the
DSC-T1.
It looks like the current (maybe) version is the DSC-TX30/B. I could stretch for that. Does anyone have any strong feelings one way or another about that one?.
Thanks again,

Mike

Can't compare to the ZS40. The zoom on the ZS40 is WAY better and good luck in bright sunlight with no viewfinder. Just my nickel's worth.
