8mm fisheye looking down a spiral staircase.
It did see its own lens hood on one side, circle cropped to rectangle.

The railing I was standing at is the top landing and it was not curved at that point, yet the lens makes it look bent nicely.

If you are close to something the center bulges out, if not the outside appears to fall in.

Fish eyes can be a lot of fun, but tend to go sit in a drawer gathering dust after the initial fun wears off.
This is at a camera shop and pretty well the first image I took with that lens.

Hi Peter,
Beautiful picture! But I would never crop it. For me, the round edges add to the 'fish-eye' effect. Is it perfectly round uncropped? This is a good lens eh, pretty sharp from edge to edge. I made one, with a couple of old lenses, but it's a little fuzzy at the edges. Yes, I may end up relegating it to the drawer, but for now I'm having way too much fun.

No, not completely round. I had a aps-c body with me which already clipped the edges , it would be round on a FF. (guess it's the first lesson I learned with using the lens)

Another is Lightroom CC Classic has the lens profile for it and if you have lens correction selected LR goes and corrects for all the fisheye distortions mostly taking them all out. Rather defeating using a fisheye

Hi Peter,
I'm afraid that I can't intelligently discuss senors, lenses, etc. with you. All of my cameras are P&S, fixed lens. (I'm too tight to fork out the money for a 'good' camera.;-)
