Let me explain my predicament: I own a Casio QV5700, a 5 mp digicam with Canon 2.0 lens. The cam makes decent pictures, though I have some doubt about its ability to resolve fine detail (the pics seem a little fuzzy) and metering when using the built-in flash indoors. (underexposed shots)

Back when I bought it I paid 475 Euro which was a very decent price. (online shop)

Since then I have been wanting to test out the RAW format and, after some fiddling, it turns out the Casio has RAW capabilities after all, although they are hidden in a service menu.

Now I came across a store that is selling off one of its last Olympus 5050Z's for only 350 Euro.

The 5050 has a very decent lens, standard RAW capture capabilties and TTL flash metering with a fitting Olympus flash. (I think it's FL40) From Phil's tests I gather that its ability to resolv detail is better than the Casio.

It still is a 5mp camera however, so I would not be advancing on that front. I need some advise on this one.
