Hi,

Please help me out I just can't seem to make up my mind between these two cameras. They are both so similar but some say the image quality of the Canon is better. The other thing thats putting me off is that the Nikon doesnt use AA batteries.

Can someone who has used these two cameras pls tell me which one is the better in terms of image quality, manual features, etc. etc.

Thanks

Nikon CP 4300 images are better than Canon A80. A80 has occasional purple fringing and blown highlights which CP4300 is better.

CP 4300 has no AF Assist lampand no flipping LCD monitor lwhich A80 is better.

CP 4300 has it's own battery but Canon A80 uses AA bateries.

But, both of them are very nice toys. Go to the shop and wich one you like buy it and you will have lot of fun with any of the two....

Good luck.....

Thanks Conqueror, Yes thats what is bothering me. AA batteries are freely available. I also heard about the purple fringing which canon has on its pics.

Is the AF lamp really a necessity. Does it make much of a difference in the pictures taken in low light?

Thanks once again.

Canon A80's AA Batt is a plus for you coz you can get them anywhere (Alkaline Batt) not to mention the 2500mAh are coming out.

Also you can use the swivel screen when you are taking pictures over your head and when taking pic with yourself.

Just my 2 cents!!!

Hi,

Thanks for all the info guys. Just one thing if I buy the Nikon 4300, are the batteries difficult to obtain or will they be difficult to get in the future?????? I dont want to be stuck with a camera for which batteries are not available.

Thanks

Don't worry abut that, you can find the CP 4300 battery EN EL1 for several years.

Good luck........

How is the shutter speed on the Nikon 4300 as compared to the A8 which has a shutter lag delay?

Better be quick if you want the A80. They're becoming harder and harder to find as production is being phased out.
