Please can anyone help shed light on helping me choose my ultra zoom camera. I have seen and like the Minoltas and had seen a few pictures in person. Though I hear the Olympus are better with photo quality. The Canon is supposed to be good also. I don't want to spend over $300. I plan to take alot of macro and outdoors nature shots. The models I've narrowed down to are

MINOLTA Z SERIES- Z1, Z2, Z10

OLYMPUS 740- ALL OTHERS ARE OVER $300

CANON S1 IS

ALL INPUT WELCOME ESPECIALLY IF YOU OWN ONE OF THESE CAMERAS

There are no bad choices here, my only comment is that the Z10 is considerably less expensive than the others, is very fast and has a great macro mode. The shorter zoom will not have the reach of the others however.
