I have narrowed my camera selection down to the Dimage Z3 and the Canon S1 IS. I seem to like both cameras (I used to have a S1 and I liked it very much). They both create 640x480 movies, but the S1 creates .avi files and the Z3 creates Quicktime files.

Is .avi or Quicktime better and why?

Is there a file size difference between them?

Can either one easily be converted to a DVD?

:?

avi is much easier to convert to mpeg2 since you just use it as a source for a converter. for QT you must use special tool.

The Canon S1's format is Motion JPEG with the .avi filename.

QuickTime is a breeze if you happen to have a Macintosh computer. I don't know how well it works on a PC. Don't use them, never will. But I know QT is available for everyone, not just Mac users.
