Hi. Recently I have been looking for a Digital Camera. It would be my first digital camera. With the help from people on this board and others I have narrowed it down to two different cameras. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ3 and the Canon S1 IS. It would be great if you could suggest a camera out of those two. Then tell me the pros and cons of it (Video mode is not a pro or con I WILL NOT USE IT). Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
JamEs

It depends on what you want to use it for. Asking us to pick one over the other without knowing that is usless.

I will be using it outdoors the most, with the occasional indoors shot. I will be photographing animals and other things in nature. I will mostly be viewing the pictures on my computer. I may occasionally print a picture but it wont be much bigger than 3x5. I will not be using the video mode as you can tell. If you would like to know anything else please ask.

Well I am a photo newb, but after reading these forums, and cnet extensively, I bought the IS. I absolutely love it, the auto mode makes me look like I acutally know what's going on.
I have been reading some online photography books, and I am starting to get into the camera's creative zone and altering ISO, fstop, and other settings.

I can say that I use my camera outdoors mostly as well and I love the results.
Just my opinion though

FZ-10. Unsurpassed Leica 12X lens, excellent engine, good burst mode, etc. However, if you're just looking at them on the computer, why not get the FZ1? 3x5 won't need more than a few megapixels.
