I am looking to buy some 5 mpix camera.
After some search I have to decide between the two mentioned in the topic.
Pentax OPTIO S50 or Canon IXUS 500

The both are aproximately the same size. Perhaps S50 a bit lighter and smaller.

How is image quality of Pentax compare to Canon is there any noticable difference?

Which camera gives better image quality?

Which camera more robust?

Any other thought and ideas are welcome especially if you have some experiance with mentioned cameras!

The Canon has much better image quality and more robust.

There is also the sony DSC-P100, Minolta G500 and Panasonic FX7in the pocketable 5MP world. There are others but these are the ones I'd most likely buy if I demanded 5 MPs in my camera.
