This past summer i bought a Canon Powershot A310. A good and a bad decision on my part. Somehow I didn't notice that it had no optical zoom when I bought it, but that taught me a lesson about digital zoom and the quality of Canon products. Now, as I seem to be moving on and trying to do more serious photography, I feel like a need a better camera.
Some professional photogrpaher suggested i get a Fuji FinePix S7000, which is a bit pricey for me. It's cousin, the S5100 caught my eye, but i still don't know if it should be THE camera to get. My needs i think are simple. At 1x, i really liked the quality of the images i got from the A310, and similar or better quality is probably what i really need in a new camera. I can do with anything with 3.2/4 MP and up, no less. I am willing to shell out up to maybe 300$ or in that range. I do a lot of macro and night photo, so a camera that does well in those areas would be great (preferrably with some good manual control). Above mentioned features are sorta more top-priority. Other things i'd like in a camera are an option to attach accessories, if i ever choose to experiment, movie clips, RAW format, and generally quick response time. Now would the S5100 suit me well as an upgrade, or do any of you have other suggestions for me to check out?
