Okay, I am moving from a Canon Ixus 300 (2.1mp x3 opt zoom) and am looking for a new compact digicam with preferably a higher zoom. The SV seems like the first compact to increase in this area and I have played with it and like what i see however there are still some minor points such as poor movie mode - it did exhibit a lot of compression and the lack of a AF assist lamp concerns me. The performance did seem a little slow in the review which is a concern as well but to be honest in my testing I did find this not to be a major problem at all. My question is that should I opt for the SV or holdoff to see if there is any competition on the horizon such as another Pentax or a Casio? The spec of the Optio 750z seems great but it is a little larger than I would hope for and I don't need a 7mp camera- 5mp is more than adequate for my needs.
Does anyone know of any new cameras that will be released shortly with a similarly higher optical zoom i.e. x5 or higher?
