Hi,

I am currently using a Canon A40 and its ok but kinda bulky and doesn't get really close up shots of dolls I am trying to photograph.

I want to upgrade to a better camera and need a little help.

These are the things I'm looking for:

Good Macro zoom (for upclose shots of doll figurine faces)

Around $700 Price range

Compact/lightweight

Easy to use for a very novice photographer but gets great shots :-)

I love your website and used it in deciding topurchase the A40 as my first digital.

I have been reading your review on the KODAK DX7590 & Nikon Coolpix 8800and I am wondering your opinion on it for photographingsmall objects(small figurines, dolls in particular)

I am open to any brand.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

hi,

you may consider the canon powershot G6 for around $700.. focuses all the way down to 5cm on super macro at 7.1 megapixels with great canon glass..

for the same 7.1 megapixel sensor in a more compact design, consider canon's powershot s70 which focuses down to 1.6 inches on macro mode for round $500ish..

casio recently introduced the exilim pro 700 which also has a 7.1 megapixel sensor that should be very compact as well, but as far as specs go, i am not as familiar with this model..

hope this was helpful,

Dustin
