Hello all ...hope you can help...I am trying to find a digital camera that also takes good video...i dont know if there are any cameras out there that will allow me to zoom when in video mode...where would I find that info? I am looking for a compact camera such as the sony dcs t1 (i dont know if the sony allows zoom in video mode) I have looked at a casio ex z50 which is only 15fps but allowed me to zoom during video...but steves review said that it didnt...so i am confused... Do any of you hsve sugggestions? thanks

Beverly has a great thread going, listing all 30fps cameras, sorted by size, weight, etc. Should have info on whether or not it zooms during recording.

I have checked out that listing of cameras...but cant make out what cameras zoom in video mode. Any help from anyone familiar with the cameras that zoom in video mode would be appreciated....thanks

My canon doesn't zoom in video mode, and I wish it could. It's really great how you told us that your camera can do it! Because that's what I've been trying to find out as well..if any of them do ..and your camera does! Nice.

Just read Beverly's thread again. There's a list there of zoom-while-recording cameras (bottom third of page 5, posted 9 Nov): Canon S1 IS, Minolta Z3, Sony M1 and Olympus C770 if external microphone attached and internal microphone turned off. Not familiar with the others, but I was seriously looking at the Canon. Great camera, excellent pic quality for a 3 MP (to my untrained eye, at least) good features for the price. Hope this helps.
