I've seen a Kodak camera go for around that price, but I just can't remember if it has an optical zoom. You might look at the Sunday ads and check the local Wal-Mart and see if they have one. I can tell you for sure that if you can increase your budget by $40-$50, that you can get a much better camera, one with an optical zoom. I know what budget contstraints are like, but if you decide to increase yours a bit, you can then consider the Olympus, Fuji, Kodak, and Nikon cameras that IMO would be much preferable to the Polaroid.

Look at the Kodak listed on our Under $100 page:

Yeah... I would spend $30 or $40 more and try to get something like a Kodak or Casio or something. I saw some good deals for some low-end Kodaks and Casios that seemed good. I'm not an expert by any means but I think if you are budget conscious, I would try to get a Kodak or Casio (for compact/ultra-compact).

If you really can't afford another $40 or $50 (after all, if you increase your cost by $50, it is 50%(!!!) more), then I may look for a no-name one with decent features. I would try to avoid high megapixels (avoid 5MP or even 4MP) and go for a 3MP one (since these offer the best bang for buck, and is good enough for very good 4"x6" and 5"x7" pics, and average 8"x10").

I wouldn't even consider a camera without optical zoom. I bought 3 refurbished Fuji 2650's over the past couple of years as gifts. They looked new and have performed as new. I paid around $130, but they are probably down around $100 now. They are excellent entry level cameras.

Here are some random picks:

Wal-mart: Hp M305v $127.44... over $100 but seems to have decent features (3MP, 3x optical zoom)...not sure how good hp is though...

I assume that's used? Nothing wrong with that if it hasn't been abused. That's a good price.
