I'm seriously looking at the Sony W1 however would love a camera with more zoom than Optical 3x. Any suggestions? Don't care for a big bulky camera but would love more zoom. Thanks!!

How much more zoom would you like? The Sony V3 has 4x zoom. If you get into the huge zooms (10x for example) then you have a larger camera and should have some stabilization as well.

Well I look at the Olympic with 10X Optical zoom but most cameras either have 3x or jump up to 10x. I guess 6 or 8 would be better but I agree with you that the camera will be bigger.

I wouldn't like big and bulky either, sowhen I wanted big zoom, I went with a medium-sized camera. There are several in this range to consider. The Panasonic FZ3 is 12x and the Canon S1 is 10x, both with image stabilisation. There is also a Nikon with 8x (4800 I think), and the Olympus 765, which I believe is 10x. These cameras (and a few more I can't think of, I'm sure) provide a great compromise between size and zoom.

The Oly 765 and Nikon 4800 are larger than the W1, but they aren't what I'd call "big and bulky". Here are the respective dimensions.

W1 - 3.56Wx2.37Hx1.44D, 190grams(7oz) - 3x zoom

765 - 4.11Wx2.36Hx2.7D, 280grams(9.9oz) - 10x zoom

4800 - 4.17Wx2.7Hx2.13D, 255grams(9oz) - 8.3 zoom

The Pentax Optio SV is a small camera with a 5X zoom, and will easily fit into your pocket.

Also have a look at the Pentax 750X and Olympus C7000. Both 5X optical zoom and 7Mp with good movie modes. I prefer the Pentax of the two because of the articulating LCD and SD card.

Please Help!

I have purchased Pentax SV and found that view in it optical viewfinder is very poor and it looks like out of focus with chromatic distortion. I was told that all Pentax SVs have very poor optical viewfinder. Is your SV free of this defect. I still have time to exchange it.
