Hi experts,
I am planning to buy a digital camera for allround use, focused mostly on family use. I will be taking lot of pictures of my 2 month old daughter in indoor and outdoor uses. My budget is till 500$. I will mostly be using the camera in automatic settings. I would like to have 4Mega pixel and up, just in case if i need a bigger picture in future.

My another confusion is regarding higher zoom cameras. I have seen that 3X cameras zoom seems to be too little. From what i gather it seems higher zoom camers perform bad in low light conditions. Am i right? Good performance in all light conditions will be important for me.

I see nikon Coolpix 5700 has got 5Mega pixel and 8X zoom. It is within my budget also. But its a old model. It came out in 2002. So i am worried that i might be buying a outdated camera with not many features.

Can u please suggest me a nice camera for me.

regards
Suresh

I have the Panasonic DMC FZ20 -- very happy with it so far.

Does everything I've asked of it, picture quality is excellent (that's what we all want, after all...)

If your $500 budget is US$ then you should get some change.
