Back when I had my jewelry store I had the Nikon Coolpix 990 and it took great macro pictures. It was 3.1 megapixels but I sold it with the store several years ago. So now that I am selling a different set of products, bathroom accessories,I figured any camera with 5 megapixels would do an even better job and I got a Sony Cybershot 5 megapixel camera.

It takes horrible indoor product shots although its outdoor photography is pretty spectacular. I am thinkin the issue has more to do with how the cameras handle indoor lighting than their macro capabilities.

What cameras handle indoor lighting well and give a crisp shot? Should I stick with the Nikon even though they seem to have completely changes the camera from the 990?

I have had some good luck with my Sony V3 taking shots of coins.

This was an indoor shot with no auxillary lenses. It might work as well with other small products.
