I have been checking the Minolta A2 out for a few weeks. There are advantages and disadvantages like all cameras; however, the features tend to exceed those of the A 200. It now seems that the A2 is on its way out and being phased off the shelves of reputable dealers. A few new ones (not refurbished)are available. Shoul the camera be purchased now or is it better to wait to see what will be coming out over the next few weeks/months? There has been some talk about the possibility of an A3 coming out soon.

The cost of the camera is secondary to a sound track record of reliability and performance. Which direction is recommended regarding this camera - the A2? Will there be a G6 upgrade soon that is also worth considering?

Well, I think you should wait and see (but you may need to wait up to 10 more months).

I personally think the high-end prosumers have some shortcomings, and until these issues are resolved, I wouldn't buy any of them. If anything, I would rather "downgrade" and go with a mid-end prosumer like Canon G6 or Panasonic FZ20 or whatever.

I'd be curious to see if Canon will release a better version of the Pro1... also I would want to see if the high-end prosumers incorporate image stabilization... overall, I would wait...
