After weeks of sorting out the right camera for my purposes, I went back to look at the Canon Pro 1 specifications (e.g., 2.4; 28-200 lens; manual zoom, etc.,). Impressive - too bad it has problems. The camera is very close to what is being offered by the Konica Minolta A2 (of course that camera has a better EVF and power source).

Hopefully, Canon will take up the challenge offering a Pro 1 upgrade or new model to challenge the KM A2/A200 niche. If not, and with no upgrade of the G 6 likely soon, the Panasonic FZ 20 looks very good.

I welcome thoughts on this issue.

How about looking at the Konica Dimage Z5 or the Panasonic Lumix FZ5. These two seem to be very evenly matched units and if they work as advertised - well we shall see, hopefully sooner rather than later.
