Greetings,

I'm new to this forum, but have been an avid reader of the reviews for some time.

I currently own a 3 year old Fuji 2600z 2mp camera. As you can imagine it is getting very long in the tooth.
I have narrowed my choices down to 2, unless someone can advise me differently.

The Panasonice DMC-FZ20 and the Canon G6.

The zoom is what is drawing me to the Panasonic, but not sure how often I would use it. I originally started in the 5MP camera, but when I realized for the same money as the Panasonic I could get the Canon G6, I thought WOW!

My frustrations with the Fuji is tons of noise in low light and some red eye issues. Correct me if I'm wrong but both of these cameras should not have a noise problem in low light, I'm talking normal to low indoor lighting.

Like I said any advice is greatly apprciated along with first hand experience. By the way I use iPhoto for my pictures.

I just got done researching several cameras, these were two.

Canon G6, things I did not like were= 1.5LCD, wanted more zoom than 4Xopt. and I prefer a lithum battery over the AA's.

I bought the Panasonic FZ15 yesterday so can't tell you my feelings on it yet. It met all my wants.

Peggysue,

The G6 has a 2 inch LCD and does have a lithium battery.

So much for your research.

I looked at both cameras a couple months ago and went with the Panasonic FZ20 because of the 12x zoom. For me the idea of having the longer zoom was more appealing and I find myself playing with that feature all the time. I shot some long shots at full zoom at the motox track and was very happy with the results. The one problem I did notice is that the lcd is hard to read in the sun so I put a screen shade on it and the problem was eliminated. All in all I'm very happy with the camera but I'll be selling it soon to buy the new Digital Rebel XT. Keep in mind the FZ20 is a bigger camera so if size is a concern the G6 would be a better choice.

Bosman

Sorry your right, I looked at so many cameras, got the features mixed up.

Its the S1 with 1.5 and AA, the G6 with 4Xopt.

Mliebs8

How much are you asking for the FZ20?

http://www2.butterflyphoto.com/shop/...grabber&sku=G6

Has any ever bought from Butterfly Photo?
Are the lens wide and telefoto, any good and how much of difference would they make? Especially the tele would be 2x the 4x already in the G6 making it 8x optical?

TIA

Yes, yesterday so not much experience other than a couple of webshights give them 5 stars, BUT I was able to negotiate a better price on anhigh speedmemory card and Fedex delivery for the price of normal shipping. I received my Fedex tracking code about 35 minutes after the purchase.

So there is price wiggle room with any extra's you buy. Oh, got an additional lens filter for 1/2 price.
