I need to find a digital camera that is very good at taking closeup pictures of very small subassemblies.

I would like to get a simple, point and shoot, 3 to 5 megapixel camera. I do not want an SLR, replaceable lenses, etc.

Thanks!

Mike

Canon G6is avery good choice for yourtask. Italso offers 7.1MP so you can always crop your picture without loosingany sharpness. 3MP seems to be too small for the task in caseyou have to crop your picture later.

I would consider the Fuji A-340. It's a 4MP camera with a very good macro capability. I've used it for similar instances such as you require. Best of all right now if you look at Wal-Mart.com, the camera is going for less then $150.00 (USD) Read the review of this camera and see if it meets your needs.

What do you mean by "very small"? 2 inches? 2 cm? 2 mm? 2 microns?

As for very good macro photos, I think you will find that is more a function of lighting than the camera.
