Well I just went down my local store to get a firewire update for my works 20D. Whilst I was there I had a good look at the 350D and I hated the size of it, its just to small. Technical, yes its amazing and not that far off the 20D.

I really hope for those of you who have brought one are delighted with your purchases, this is just my personal opinion, I really could not get on with the size issue.

I am looking to buy a personal camera, at present I have discounted the 300D because of build quality, now I have discounted the 350D because of the size. I know this probably sounds to fussy, but should I not be, I'm about to spend 800, its a lot of money.

My other options are the D70 but I have read some bad things, has anyone got any other suggestions for what I should be looking at?

Basically 800 is my budget, I love the 20D but this is out of my price bracket.

Thanks

Grant

Maybe it's better to just keep the 800 bucks and wait for another season or two...so that there's more variety and options, and more improvements.

Heh! Try *istDS - excellent build and pix quality, very competitive priceandIMHO very comfortable. In short this is camera made for a photographer by people who making camera for ages. Of course you will miss some (IMHO not so important) gizmos found in 350D, but in my point of view overall quality and decent feeling is more important.

Cheers

The *istDS is about the same size as the Rebel XT so I doubt that's what he wants.

Even so, I still would recommend to have a look. Something wrong with 350D design - it feels "improper", probably because too lightfor its size, or probably something to do with the grip. Anyway in my hands *istDS sits much more secure. But again probably it is just my personal feelings. "Have a look" never harms:-)

And who says that something wrong with D70? IMHO excellent camera :-)

I will defiantly go and have a look at the *istDS, your right, Pentax have made excelent cameras for years, I still have my K1000, refuse to part with it, so why wouldn't they make a great DSLR? I also might have dismissed the D70 to quickly, its just that I read it tends to under expose, but if you know that you can make the adjustments, right.

I think the main problem is that I am to used to absolutely amazing 20D and wanted a Canon so I could share the kit, but I don't think I could ever get used to the feel of the 350, plus the button to adjust aperture is right underneath the view finder, so your finger gets in the way if you want to change aperture whilst viewing the subject. Thats just bad design in my opinion.

Like I said I am sure the countless thousands who are going to buy 350 will be really happy, but unfortunately for me, even though I know its a great camera underneath, its just badly designed.

Thanks for the suggestions
