Hello,

i am new to this forum, but i have recently picked up photography as a hobby.

i was wondering if you guys/gals can recommand a point and shoot that would be good for takin pics at sporting events.i currently have a Sony DSC-T1 that i just picked up and its great for taking pics when im out with friends, but i just got back from a Bulls game and none of the pics turned out very well. i would like to stay with a Sony digicam as i have made an investment in memory stick media. if i have to i consider another brand and scrap the DSC-T1.

The only Sony that might stand a chance of providing good pics at a basketball game might be the 828. I think it's ISO levels are higher than average, and you will need very high ISO to overcome the low lighting in a basketball arena. It also has a7x zoom, which will get you closer than the 3-4x zooms that are common.

Sony did just introduce a high zoom camera, but I don't remember the model #. Might be worth doing a search for it, as it seems to have some very handy features. It it has high ISO, it would make a good choice...
