After hesitating between KMz3 & z5 ,SONY v3, PANASONIC fz-20 or new Fz-5.

I`ve made up my mind and this week i`m going to buy the new Panasonic FZ-5.

It`s much smaller and easier to carry around then the FZ-20.

I read the review on "dc resources" but i waited for a second opinion on the "megapixels" site.It is now out and the conclusionis that the FZ-5 isa fantastic camera, probably the best super-zoom camera on the market.

http://www.megapixel.net/reviews/panasonic-fz5/fz5-gen.php

Here in Brussels they are allready in the shop selling at 499 euro.

Yeah I decided on the FZ5 also after a long, difficult decision process between that and the FZ20. It basically came down to size for me too. I placed my order with Panasonic.com last week so I am hoping to get it soon! Let me know how you like it.

We just got our FZ5 and FZ4, look for the reviews soon. They are currently at the St Petersburg Gran Prix race so look for some interesting sample photos and movies. For the price they are undoubtedly the best deal for asuper-zoom camera with I.S.

i would highly recommend www.pixmania.com for your purchase. I bought this camera thru them on the 23/3 at €430 + €13 delivery. It was delivered from Franceto me in Ireland in less than 24 hours!

(for people who may be thinking of buying this camera thru pixmania from the UK / Ireland, note that it will not come with english manual, and the charger plug will be 2 pin rather than 3, so will require an adaptor)

Well, you did your homework and examined each option carefully. I hope you will be pleased with the FZ-5.

It has no external flash capabilities, right? Kind of limiting. Is there a way to connect a flash-by-wire with a handle etc? I'll have to run out quick to get the FZ-20 while it still exists or the Nikon 8800 is all that remains.

Why didn't Panasonic increase to a 6, 7 or 8mp camera? Is another model planned in six months?

If you are serious about the 8800 then I suggest that you Strongly look at the speed specs for this camera. The time to first shot and the shot to shot times are very slow. Focusing time and recovery times are below that of the competetion. I admit it takes great pictures if you have the time. I had used this camera and was very disappointed with it.
