What i like about the Sony is the possibility of recording good quality video with a more costly memory stick pro card.

The Canon A520 has a cool zoom going up to 140mm.

Which one makes the best pics ? i`m especially looking for one who can make good night pics.

Anyone with a few night pics examples ?

Flash power is also important because i make quite a few indoor pics in low light conditions.

The 520 cannot do anything in low light. It is really really slow for everything.. the flash is almost nonexistent. The only thing it has for it 1) SD cards 2) better pictures in sunlight.

Do you have one ? you seem to know this camera pretty well.

What would you suggest ? a camera which is capable of good indoorand night shoots ?

With AA batteries and 640 movie mode..... the Sony W5 maybe ?

I can only write about the Sony W1/W5 since I have one.

The movie mode is very good, the closest I've seen to Camcorder video in terms of quality, although this consumes large amounts of memory, so I'd recommend 1G card(s) minimum if you plan on using it a lot.

In terms of low light, well I can confirm the W1 can have a perfect picture, even taken in TOTAL darkness because of its very good focus assist light. (I had to test that out when I got the camera!)

The shutter speed also goes up to 30 seconds exposure time for superb nighttime shots, which I'll try to look up & see what I got.

Between the W5 and the A95 i would go for the W5 but today i just bought the FZ-5.....it`s very impressive and powerfull and yet very small.

I have both the Sony DSCW5 and the Canon 520 hence I know from personal experience that the Sony is all around better.

You also asked about the Sony and the Canon A95. Now the A95 would probably take little better pictures but is heavy and has a lousy movie mode.

hence guillermovilas above does have a point: If you are considering the A95, trade up to the Panasonic FZ-5 which is roughly the same size and weight (except for the big lens)
but blows the Sonys and the two Canons you are considering.

Finally the Canon PowerShot S2 should be coming out in June around a rumored $400.. (it never ends). This one has pretty much everything i want.. SD Cards, AA batteries, fast, big zoom, nice video and manual controls. I am planning to purchase the S2 and sell everything else on ebay.
