I'm looking for a 3 (or 4) mega pixel camera that uses AA batteries. Would like 4X zoom too. The camera would be used to teach elementary school aged children basic photography.

Any suggestions?

The Canon A510 comes to mind. There is also a Kodak or two that are 3mp/4x, but I'm not sure if they use AA's. One can check the reviews to find out.

Considering that there isn't a lot of difference between 3x and 4x, and the fact that there are tons of 3mp/3x cameras out there, I don't see why you wouldlimit yourself with a ratherconstrained requirement. Also consider that many of these cameras can be found for under $150, some under $130. I would think that spending a minimal amount of money would make sense, as these cameras will likely not last very long in the hands of elementary-aged schoolchildren.

Personally, I would get a non-zoom Kodak like a 7300for under $99. This type of cameraminimizes the pressure of learning the camera, and allows the user to concentrate on the art of photography.
