I am in the process of buying agiftdigital camera.

What digital camera, under $300.00, would be the best for photographing pieces of art like stained glass lamps, or medium to small sized glass jewelry?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. -Thanks.

Have you looked at the Fuji E550 or E510?

I have the E550 and love it. The E550 is uder $300 and the E510 closer to $230. Just remeber you will need a bigger XD card. The 16 mb that come with the camera will not hold a lot of pics at the higher megapixels.

There really is no "best" camera to do what you want, especially since just about any of the hundred or so choices will take those kinds of photos.

If you want to take close-up macro shots, then you might start with one of the inexpensive Nikons. Nikon is generally regarded as having a very good macro mode. A Nikon 3200 can be had for less than $200.
