ok,99% of all my pics are taken at nite in either a niteclub scene or music/bar venue and take action/unsuspecting pics of people dancing/whatever. I need a camera that responds fast to the shutter button.meaning i need it to take the picture the instant i press the button. I had a canon s30 and it worked great,it was stolen,so i bought a canon a75 and its ok,but seems to lag trying to focus. Also I sometimes, well actually quite a bit "blind" shoot so, the af-assist beam is my focal point. Ive basically just used the "auto" setting, since I have experimented with the built in scene modes with no luck. a friend just bought a canon rebel slr, it takes great action shots in daylight and hes sceptical to let me "borrow" it one night, which,i dont blame him. so i come here looking for advise. i am partial to canon products, but am open minded to other brands. thanks in advance for any input.

Generally, a camera with auto focus assist lags more when focusing. You could try turn off the auto focus assist (I believe yours uses infrared) to reduce focus lag on your A70, although it might have trouble focusing in the dark.
