Each of the two cameras (the Nikon Coolpix 8400 and the Olympus C-7070 Wide Zoom) have many similarities and come close to what I want. They are similarly sized and can each ride in my coat pocket.

Despite the higher price, I've about decided on the Nikon for reasons which I'll list, but if you have any advice to give or corrections to make, I'm very willing to listen.

In roughly descending order of importance for me, the Nikon:

Has a 24mm wide zoom (the Olympus has 27mm).
Has a bigger CCD (2/3" as opposed to 1/1.8").
Has an EVF viewfinder (as opposed to the Oly's Optical).
Has a flash that pops up and a slightly larger flash range.
Has an infrared remote.
Has 8 MP (the Olympus has 7MP).
Has features like a "BSS" (best shot selector)
Has time lapse recording.

I'm also familiar with the Nikon since I owned the 5400 until it was recently stolen.

On the other hand, the Oly *is* less expensive, 7MP are plenty, 27mm wide zoom is nothing to sneeze at, and it has a somewhat better (longer) zoom range.

Anything else I should consider? Oneelusive factor to meis image quality (including noice). Is the 7070's quality significantly better or different to outweigh the 8400's bells & whistles?

Your input and comments will be appreciated!

PS: This is a second camera for me, as I've already got a good telephoto camera.
