Hi, folks. I have been looking for a small camera with a very good optical zoom and an image stabilizer.
My primary application is fast-action point-and-click of wildlife at a distance. If I stop to adjust settings or to set up a tripod, the subject is gone. So I need high zoom and image stabilization (and good auto focus, preferably). I want a small body because for ease of carrying and for greater accessibility (the smaller it is, the more likely I am to take it on any particular outing).
My prime candidate had been the Canon Powershot S1 IS, but the resolution was simply too low. Now that the S2 IS is out, I'm impressed, but it looks like Panasonic may have some contenders now. The Panasonic DMC-LZ2 seems a little lower featured than the S2 IS, but the size is really attractive.
So I'm looking at the great zoom and features of the S2 vs the size of the LZ2. Any suggestions? Or any alternatives?
