Hello, I also am confused and having a hard time choosing a camera and spent what little time I do have researching one. Today was the first time I was on Steve's site and I narrowed it down to 3 cameras without looking at everything. However, when I went to the forum to see if I could find any comments on any of them, I didn't see any. I hope to purchase the camera tomorrow for an upcoming trip in August. (need time to experiment with it) Does anyone have any experience with any of these 3 cameras and can say yes or no to me on them? Thank you. Sandy

Cannon PowerShot SD400 or SD500

Olympus Stylus 410 Digital

HP PhotoSmart R717

Hi WI Sandy,

I had a Olympus 410 for a short trip I took. Then I sold it. It took good pics but I did not like the xD media. VERY small. Easy to lose.

I cannot speak for the other two.

I suggest you go to a Best Buy or somewhere that carries lotsa digcams and try a few out

Also, look at Steve's reviews of the three cams you are considering.

Good luck

I'm a big fan of the PowerShot line. Nice features and excellent color reproduction in your photos. I've also seen some nice results from Olympus cameras. I'd pick between those two brands and forget about the HP.
