I had a camera, what kind it is really doesn't matter, but I dropped it and it broke. So now I'm looking for a new one. From what I read all I really need is 3 or 4 mega pixels, I can only afford up to 225 dollars. I want it to be durable enough so that I can keep it in backpack and not worry about it breaking.I don't want it to be too fancy, but I do want it to have some zoom. I plan on using it to take pictures of my pets, friends, family, and my friends playing various sports. I'd prefer if it had a movie mode, but that's not that big of a priority.

Please help if you can.

More info is needed. What kind of Flash memory did your old camera use? Do you still have it or are you going to need to buy more memory while staying within your $225.00 buget? How much zoom is "some" (98% of the smaller cameras only come with around a 3-4x optical zoom)?

For instance...at overstock.com you can get a pocktable, 4mp, Minolta F200 for $170.00. It has a 3x optical zoom, is compact but uses SD memory cards. They also have a (larger, due to more zoom) 4mp, Fuji S3100 with the 6x optical zoom for $210.00. Both are "reconditioned" but carry the same manufacturers warrantys as new items.

I have no idea about my old camera, it was an 80 'flatfoto' from Radio Shack. It was just a peice of junk. I didn't buy any extra memory for it. I don't know what some zoom is... I just want a non-crappy, hard to breakcamera for cheap.

I notice in Sales Circular that this week Staples has a Canon A510 for $200. They throw in a 256Mb card and a free iP3000 printer after rebate. Add a NiMH battery and charger kit from Wal-Mart for under $20 and you have a fairly complete system for $220 plus tax.

okay then...

Would a 128 MB card be enough? I'm going to get the Olympus CAMEDIA C C-5500 Sport Zoom.

Where did that come from? Oh well...

I'd recommend at least a 256 MB card for that camera.
