If the Canon S2 is anything like the S1, you will get visible noise in low light with your pictures, and video,(I'm talking about pics, & video, with no flash) primarilyanything ISO 200 & up, and the S1 struggled to focus under these conditions. Also, if shooting in a dark area like an indoor wedding, I think the flash is stronger on the S7000, maybe the lens is wider too, not sure???

The S2 seems to be a big step up from the S1. Steve put it on his best camera list, dpreview gave it a "highly recommended" and Imaging Resource put it in "Dave's Picks". It is a very competent camera.

The S7000 has the old Fuji sensor that has to be interpolated up to 12Mp to give really good images. Compression is way too high at 6Mp. And it doesn't have stabilization. I won't own another large camera without stabilization and would like a decent stabilized pocket camera if someone besides point and shoot LCD only Panasonic would make one.

The S2 has a better full focus shutter lag but still isn't great. It is much faster pre-focused. The S7000 has a slight advantage in cycle times.

is it possible to improve Canon s2is after some times by buying some additional implements like lens or something, or it is not possible to change anything after buying.
