I want to purchase a digital camera for my daughters' 20th birthday. Thinking of spending $200.00 or less. Just want something simple, point and shoot, flash, maybe movie capability. Any opinions on brand and model? Many thanks!

Panasonic LZ2: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2005_reviews/lz2.html

6x zoom, quite fast ready to shoot, image stabilizer, easy image handling (browse, delete), not too big. LZ1 with 4mp can save some bucks.

HP R607: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2004_...s/hp_r607.html

good ergonomics, got a personal recommendation for it. Just try it out - very good to hold with one hand! And most important buttons "outside" - don't have to fiddle with the menu that much

I tested both at a store for some minutes and was impressed by the Panasonic in the field of handling. Am looking for a replacement for my daughters analog point-and-shoot cam (she is 7) and think she can handle the Panasonic

Anyone else with a recommendation?

Hope that helps.

Check out the Canon A510. I have it, it is excellent, gets very good reviews. Just plug it into any search and you will get tons of reviews. One of the best selling under $200. Often recommended here as well.
