I like mine. Size, easy to use, great LCD (in hindsight, maybe I didn't need a view finder), I DO like using it for movies (even though I know that's not what should be a deciding factor. But it was for me.) I've been having fun with the macro function:

Sometimes, I've noticed that some pictures are not quite as sharp as I'd like, but I think I need to play with the focusing options more.

Previously I would have said always buy the Canon because they're lense glass was second only to Zeiss in terms of quality and they're DIGIC sensor/processor offered the cleanest images bar none. But the new SD400/300 uses a smaller sensor than the SD500 or the older S400/500 cameras and thus the SD400 images aren't quite as sharp as the othe Canon's.

That said the SD400 camera has a very fast autofocus and is still a great camera, it's just that shot for shot, the difference between it and the Optio shots are quite close (I'm assuming you'r refering to the S5z). The detail level is about the same. The Canon's images feel a little more blown out while the Optio is more contrasty and noiser/grainer.

Here is the older S500, so you can see what I mean when I say the bigger sensor really makes a difference (as far as the SD400 v. the S500)

Sorry I didn't make that clear: I took those with the Canon SD400. :-)

My friend uses Pentax Optio S5z, and I am using Pentax Optio SV, 5x optical zoom. I think Pentax Optio digital cameras are better than Canon IXUS.
