I am trying to decide between the Canon Powershot SD400 and the Nikon Coolpix 4200. Does anyone have any thoughts on these two cameras.

I am looking for a compact camera, with very little delay. I will be using the camera mainly on vacations (cruises, beach type vacations), as well as family gatherings.

I have ready a few messages regardnig the Canon LCD screen, and wonder if I should be worried about that.

If anyone has suggestions regarding another camera, that would we helpful also.

Thank you.

There are a few other cameras you probably want to look into. Defenately look into Fuji F10,Kodak V550,Olympus 800, Samsung Digimax i5, Casio Z750 and Casio S500 andPanasonic FX7/8. I'm not going to go into much details about these, as between steve, and dcresource.com there are reviews on each of these. Hope it steers you into somewhat right direction.

:-)If i can only choose one from these two~4200 is a real good camera.

Which got a 1/1.8 CCD for 4M pixels and a very good lense where is a ED lens

The low points of 4200 are:

Small 1.5 inch LCD

Battery life is not so long maybe 150 shots or less(with LCD on)?

No manual mode~~~~

Not sure if you decided already but I would Vote for the SD400 if there's a Need for Speed. Nikons have some of the Best Lenses BUT their digicams unfortunately, are unbearably SLOW !
