I own the Pentax S5i and have used the SVi. While the SVi is the newer digital camera, I actually prefer the S5i.

Because, in my personal opinion, the S5i handles a whole lot better, and is more flexibile for quick shots.

Is it true that the battery life with Pentax S5i is very short ?
And what do You think about this cam if compared with other models like Nikon Coolpix 5900, Fuji F455, HP R717, Casio Exilim EX S100and Sony DSC L1 ? Which one is the best for You in terms of compactness and image quality ?

thks

P.S.: last question: which one beetwen Pentax S5i and Pentax S50 ? Which are the main differences ?

While the Pentax S5i has only average battery life, I have never felt the need for an additional battery. I am unfamiliar with the Fuji 455, although I have used an HP R707 belonging to my son and I actually felt that the photo quality and physical size of the S5i was much more preferrable.

Here is a Pentax S5i sample.

The S5i is a bit small, and has much better battery life than the S-50. There are a lot of negative comments about the S-50 in various forums.
