Hello. I am anovice when it comes to cameras. I am trying to decide between the Canon SD400 and the Nikon 7900, as I can get them for the same price. I understand the biggest difference will be 5 megapixels vs. 7 megapixels, but I have heard the Canon is better quality. I will only be using the camera to take pictures while traveling and at sporting events, so the difference in megapixels isn't as important to me as the quality and durability of the camera. Any help is appreciated.

If these were the only two cameras in the world, I would probably lean toward the 7900, but it's close. If I were a newbie, and there were more than two cameras in the world, I would go to the camera reviews on this site and compare the sample pictures for the SD400 and the 7900 against those of the Fuji F10. The available light shots taken by the F10 at ISO 800 are every bit as good or better than those taken by the other two at ISO 400 (their maximum). You didn't say what type of sporting events you'd be shooting, but if any of them will be taken at night or in a gym, you will appreciate the higher ISO capability of the F10.
