We have a good digital camera (well its certainly good enough for me) and we would like to get a second camera for my wife that she can use at family gatherings, simple sots on holiday etc.

I am thinking along the lines of 4 - 5megapixels, 3x or better optical zoom, fully automatic, easy to useand small enough to put in a pockets. Our present camera takes CF cards so using this medium may be an advantage but is not too important.

Any suggestions?

Fujifilm F10, one of only p&s which gives you low noise shots at higher ISOs. I don't have it, I use panasonic FZ5 which is not a pocket cam. Another one is canon's SD400 5MP model.

Sony P-200 is worth a hard look as far as allround performance is concerned, or the yet to come Canon-S80 seems to be worth the wait. JMO

Personally, I use a Fuji F-10 as my second camera and really like it a lot. It has great capabilities. Here is a sample photo.
