jstigwood-

Is the Canon G-6 in there just to be different? It is only 4X optical zoom while all the reast are ultra zooms. What the reasoning?

Certainly the G-6 is a great camera.

it's just in there because It's probably the best in its class....ultra zoom would be nice but not essential..

What in your mind is the best semi compact with 3-4 optical zoom???

and

What is the best ultra zoom???????

price no worries

Calm down dude. I think if you want to go pro get a Panasonic or Canon S60. If you just want to point and shoot, I'm dead serious, just keep your Ixus. You won't find much better quality in today's 5mpcameras.

I'm completely against getting a big ass camera that is not SLR. You won't take nearly as many pictures simply because you won't take it with you everywhere you go

It could be great if you like ultra zooms, it has IS so pix at zoom is still sharp, but pix taken low light is awful, that is why I'm now looking at DSLR like XT and Pentax DS. My Sony V1 pix at low light is still the best of the bunch. And I'm not a man!!
