Ok, I found a Olympus c-5060 for $230. I think this is a pretty good deal. I'm a newbie but am very intrested in photography as a hobby. I was thinking of getting a beginner DSLR but price is prohibitive at this point. Would this be a good camera to learn the 'art' of photography? Is the image quality THAT much better than my current P&S Canon A300?Thanks in advance.

What type of photography do you want to learn? Why do you think the C5060 would be better than the A300 as a learning tool?

Even though the C5060 is a discontinued model, $230 seems almost too good for a camera of this caliber...what's wrong with it?

The a300 is a simple point and shoot with no manual controls, no zoom, not much control. The c5060 has full manual controls, better lens, better image quality & more overall options. I'm on the quest for the perfect shot & using all the tools of a camera to get that shot has sucked me into this hobby. I found the c5060 at a Microcenter, they just chopped the price the day before (closeout model).

In that case, I'd have to say, "Buy it!"

Good luck in your quest for the perfect shot. Please post it after you're done admiring it.
