I want to get my granddaughter (age 14) a digital camera for Christmas. My own experience has been with Olympus (C-730 and C-5500), and I'm happy with the quality. But I know there are other good ones out there. I'm looking for something with 3.2 or 4.1 megapixels, some optical zoom, a viewfinder, and above all, good picture quality.

I'm sure most of you reading this are way past the entry-level stage. But have you heard good things about any model in this price range?

Thanks!

I selected the fuji for the features, positive reviews, 4.1 MP and 3X optical zoom.

Thanks! That's funny--I saw the Fuji A345 at Target, too. Yesterday, as a matter of fact. Iliked it for the same reasons as you, and also because it uses AA batteries. I know Fuji has a good name, but the one review I read, while not bad, wasn't all that enthusiastic. Have you triedit outyet? Do you like the results?

The Olympus D-540 is a great value at just a little over $100.

The main negative comment was that the indoor shots were blurry. The examples they showed were dreadful. I wonder if that was a fluke, or if that's what we can expect them to look like.
