Im looking for opinions for a good camera for my wife this year for X-mas.

It will more than likely be carried in her purse, so it has to be somewhat compact.

Im looking for something thathas auser friendly menu, and still takes great photos with a decent lens and zoom.

Video is a plus, and must have sound.

Preferably 5.0 megapixles or higher.

Thanks in advance.

yep.. the F10 is also a very good cam, but it's not an ultra-compact camera... it is good for low light situations, but if u want an all-around camera, with good quality pics, and everything automatic... check out those i told u.

All of them are under US$300.

Cheers!

Was in the same quandry regarding a camera for my wife. She wanted something user friendly that she could put in her purse. Keep in mind that my wife's usual method of takinga picture was to say..."Honey, take a picture of that.":-) A couple of months ago, I bought her the KM DiMage X50 at Costco for $245.00. She played around with it a bit in the store and she took some really nice photos on our vacation in September. It is a small camera and a little hard for me to use (bigger hand/fingers), but she likes it. It fits nicely in the purse, even in the case (bought separately).

Tried to talk her into either taking my older Kodak and me getting the Canon Rebel, but no dice!

Oh... sorry...

I mistakenly thought, based on the title of the thread, that you were offering to exchange your wife for a camera.

Sorry for the interruption.

Please proceed...
