Wow, thanks for the replies.

It may be too late however. This camera was going to be a gift from my father, and last night he pressed me for a choice.

Having got the shortlist down to the Kodak P880, the Konika A200, the Canon Powershot G6 and the Olympus C-7070 (added in after further research - high-end compact with wide-angle lens), I in the end picked out the G6. Doubts had been cast by reviews I had read on the image quality of the A200 and the C-7070, and the P880 hadn't been widely reviewed enough for me to feel it was a 'safe' choice. (I had eliminated the Fuji 5600 for lack of manual control, and the 9500 on noise issues like the ones you highlight E.T. - it didn't seem worth the price)

As you all must know, the Canon has the least-wide but fastest lens out of the four, and from samples and reviews, the best image quality.

Now I regret my choice - I will check if he has made an order yet. Hopefully if it has been made, he can change it to the A200. Your points have persuaded me Slipe.
