I like that the simplicity of the A620. I like the optical focus and IS of the S2 IS.

If I down the road I added a lens to the A620 would the fact that it doesn't have IS cause problems ?

Its not going to cause problems, But the S2 is a much better camera. And if you leave it on auto mode, how much simpler can you get. At most you will have to remember to pop up the flash.

One small note.. the 620 has an automatic lense cover.. the S2 has a snap on cover..

None the less one very basic decision remains: do you want an ultra zoom camera or one with more basic zoom features.

Canon S-2 IS=ultrazoom

Canon A-610/A-620=normal zoom
