Both cameras are around the same price and have similar features. I'm leaning towards the DSC-S40. Any thoughts?

The Canon has a larger sensor, a wider ISO range, a higher top-end zoom, a faster lens, and a higher resolution LCD than the Sony. On paper, at least, there's no comparison. Why did you happen to select those two models? What are you trying to photograph?

The A410 has a smaller ccd, wide isn't exactly "wide" (41 mm). The Canon "eats" cheaper SD cards.

I don't think that the Sony is a "best bang for the buck" cam.

Whoops, looked up the wrong Canon - thanks for the correction, buggy.

On second thought, I wouldn't buy either one of them.
