I need a camera with a good 10 x or 12 x zoom for close up photos of jewelry and little animal faces for ebay auctions. I also like to take outside photos of flowers and pets, but that's secondary. Funny someone else is thinking about the same 2 cameras for concerts. I like to take photos inside without too much lighting. I tired a Konia Minolta Dimage - yuk, I returned it. Am I on the right track for the right kind of camera for me? $400 price range is good for me.
Love this new found web site!

tigerwings-

I own both of the cameras and think IMHO that for your purposes, the Canon S-2 is the best choice.

So you think the Canon s2 will take better close ups or why would you pick that one? thanks very much,

Tigerwings-

I think that, at least for me, the Canon S-2 is the better choice for close-up shots for two reasons.

(a) When taking macro or close-up shots the photo must be framed using the LCD. The S-2's fully articulated LCD is much more handy to use.

(b) The S-2's super macro mode lets you move in toward your subject without a distance limitation.

Just check the reseller ratings to be safe.

Lauren-

There is a website: www.resellerrating.com that provides feed back on most any internet retailer.

Howdy - After compairing the Sony and the Canon on line, I bought the Canon powershot s2. Can't wait to get it! I bought it from Walmart.com since I had a gift card there. Yikes, hope that's not a mistake. I hope it will take a better clearer shot than the attactched one that I took with the Konica Minolta Dimage that I returned. Do you think it will? thanks for your help.
