So far I only have a film Canon EOS 500 but want to upgrade to digital. One of the things I want to use the camera for is astronomical uses. A lot of people are now using DSLRs on the back of telescopes (thespecialist astro cameras are v expensive and not usable for anything else). My dilemma is whether I need to go more expensive than the Canon 350D? Would I be gaining much? Any thoughts gratefully received! Thanks.

20Da would be propably best, it doesn't have so sharp IR filter meaning it's much better in capturing hydrogen nebulas... (H-alfa wavelength)

But astronomical associations member magazine had article about someone who stripped 350D's IR filter but you proapbly wouldn't want to do same.

Someone seems to have been using one little...

Thanks a lot. Trouble with the 20Da, it's (excuse the pun) astronomically expensive (here in the UK anyway).
