I need a new camera and i've read a lot of good reviews about this one. I like the size of it, so it will fix in my purse.

Is there another camera that would do a better job, that is canon, for less than $500?

It all depends how big (size-wise) your purse really is. You could save money by opting for the highly reviewed, Canon A-610 or if you still want to keep the form factor quite small, take a look at the wel reviewed, Casio Z-120, which is selling for around $230-$240.

Thanks for your suggestion. I think the size of A610 is fine. Wouldn't you recommend A620 over it?

Yes, I personally would recommend the A-620 over the A-610. It has a different imager and produces great images with 4X of optical zoom. However, I was left with subliminal impression that budget was an issue. That is why I recommended the A-610 and the Casio Z-120.

Thank you for your prompt response. It was an issue at first i suppose, but why not invest a little more money for something better?

I think i'll go and take a feel for the A-20 if that's what you recommend. I'd rather stay with a canon this time around and this one seems like it is a good choice. Unless you have another

No, you will be very happy indeed with the highly reviewed Canon A-620. It is a good investment and actually quite good as a traveler's camera as well.

I'm sorry if i sound annoying.

I picked up this camera and really liked it. For this price range though, is there something a little better? I saw the Powershot S80, which was a little more in megapixels, so would this be a better choice? I take a lot of photos and carry my camera with me all the time, i'm looking for something around 500 max. I would like something where i can have the options, like b/w and god focus when i take photos from about 4cm from the object. Sorry if i sound silly

The Canon S-80 has had good reviews and a great user response, providing you do not need RAW image format, which was eliminated with the introduction of the S-80. I will also give you a wide angle which is nice for landscapes.
